The 2024 round of BAPRAS Bursaries is now open for applications. The deadline to apply is 7 January 2024.

European Travel Scholarship

BAPRAS annually offers six scholarships to enable specialist registrars (years 4-6) from the UK to visit any plastic surgery centre in Europe.

Leadership Bursary

The Association is offering six bursaries of £500 each for the study and development of leadership skills.

This award is designed for the academic study of leadership or to gain experience in the field of leadership not available in the candidate’s own Deanery.

Microsurgery Education Fund

Two prizes are available annually, available for junior trainees (CT1-ST3) to pay for attendance of microsurgery courses in the UK or abroad.

Travelling bursary for fellowships

The Association usually offers five bursaries annually each for the study of new techniques abroad. The bursaries are for the study of new techniques or to gain experience in the field of plastic surgery not available in the candidate’s own unit.
There is no restriction on the place but the visit would have to be for a reasonable period of time.

Travelling bursary for presentations overseas

Four awards are usually offered annually by the Association towards expenses for a consultant or trainee for overseas travel to present papers at international meetings.

Student bursaries

The bursaries are intended to provide financial support for medical students who wish to undertake research, travel or an elective in a subject related to plastic surgery.
