Why are women still being denied breast reconstruction?

BAPRAS Council Member Ruth Waters will be appearing tonight (8th January) on 'At the Edge of Life', a BBC2 documentary which goes behind the operating theatre doors at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
Miss Waters spoke to the Daily Mail recently about her thoughts on availability of breast reconstruction procedures, saying she believed that many women miss out on reconstructive surgery and that while guidelines state that all women should be offered reconstruction, not all hospitals will offer particular procedures, such as DIEP flaps, which use a patient's own skin and fat for reconstructive purposes.
