At the recent EGM in Nottingham, a number of new Full Members were elected. Find out more about some of our new members below

Mr James Haeney BA BM BCh MA FRCS (Plast)
James Haeney is a consultant at Hull & East Yorkshire hospitals NHS trust.  He trained in the Trent and Yorkshire deaneries, followed by hand surgery fellowships at the Pulvertaft unit in Derby and in Leeds and a reconstructive cosmetic fellowship in Nottingham. 

His special interests include adult and children's hand surgery, lower limb trauma and colorectal / gynae oncology reconstructions.
 

Mr Oliver Harley MBBS, BSc, MBA, FRCSEd (Plast)
Oliver Harley has been in working in the field of plastic and hand surgery since 2002. Since completing his specialist training in 2012 he has been a locum consultant in Plymouth and currently in Oxford.  His main interest is hand and upper limb surgery with addition interest in microsurgery, general plastic surgery, skin cancer surgery and breast surgery. 

He gained most of his general experience at St Thomas’ Hospital (London), St Georges Hospital (London) and Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead).  He undertook specialist training fellowships in Hand and Wrist Surgery (Wrightington Hospital, Lancashire and Erasmus MC University Hospital, Rotterdam 2011-2012).  He has developed his interest in surgery for childrens’ hand anomalies and conditions whilst training at Alder Hey Hospital (Liverpool) and Erasmus (Rotterdam).  He completed an aesthetic surgery fellowship at the McIndoe Surgical Centre, East Grinstead in 2010.

 Mr Sultan Hassan MB ChB FRCS FRCSEd FRCS(Plast)
Sultan Hassan has over 14 years experience in plastic surgery. He has particular special interest in breast and facial surgery as well as body contouring surgery including following massive weight loss. He is the lead plastic surgeon for Elite Surgical.

While learning his craft, Mr Hassan was privileged to work alongside some of the most distinguished plastic surgeons in the world. Today, he contributes articles and book chapters on plastic surgery as well as lecturing on all aspects of his profession on both the national and international stage.

He is the Chief Medical Officer of the British Boxing Board of Control (Midlands) and the Medical Director of "The Primary Care Training Academy" - a leading provider of minor surgery and dermoscopy training to GP's from around the UK. In 2007, Mr Hassan founded the Primary Care Training Academy (PCTA), based in Birmingham. The course has been approved by the West Midlands Postgraduate Deanery, RCGP epass and CORAS. Mr Hassan invites an experienced expert faculty teaching team of surgeons, dermatologists and nurse specialists that provide training of the highest quality throughout the year.

Mr Simon Mackey BSc(Hons), MB BS, FRCS(Plast)
Simon Mackey is a UK-trained consultant plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon based at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead. He has been awarded the intercollegiate Fellowship in Plastic Surgery, FRCS (Plast) and is on the GMC’s Specialist Register for plastic surgery.

He graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine at St. Mary’s Hospital, London. After basic surgical training in the Oxford Deanery, he was appointed to the Pan-Thames Higher Surgical Training scheme in plastic surgery. He completed his training with specialist fellowships in cosmetic surgery at the McIndoe Surgical Centre, and in cancer reconstruction and microsurgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London.

Prior to his appointment as a substantive consultant at the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, he had the opportunity to work as a locum consultant at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and the Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

His areas of special interest include breast reconstruction, cancer reconstruction, general plastic surgery, skin cancer surgery and cosmetic surgery.

Mr Naveen Cavale BSc(Hons) MBBS MRCSEd MSc FRCSEd(Plast)
Nav Cavale graduated from UCL Medical School in 1995 and immediately commited to a career in plastic surgery, his first ever post as a doctor being Junior House Officer to Professor Gus McGrouther, Mr Brian Morgan and Mr Mike Brough at the Middlesex Hospital.

Having completed basic and higher specialist surgical training in the London training scheme, he acquired MRCSEd in 2000 and FRCSEd(Plast) in 2008.

He is currently a locum consultant in plastic surgery at King’s College Hospital, specialising in orthoplastics (based at the King’s Major Trauma Centre), microsurgery and general plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.

He is a founding member of the London Orthoplastics Network and has set up the largest (and free) online educational resource for trainee plastic surgeons (www.frcsplast.com) with over 400 members.

Ms Felicity Mehendale MBBS MS FRCS EBOPRAS FRCS(Plast)
Felicity is a consultant plastic and cleft Surgeon and an honorary clinical senior lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. She is based at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children and St John’s hospital (adult cleft surgery) and is the Clinical Lead for the East of Scotland Cleft Service.

She qualified MBBS from Grant Medical College, Bombay, India, and trained as a general surgeon working at Sir JJ hospital and the leading Tata Memorial Cancer Centre in Bombay.

Moving to the UK, she obtained her FRCS (Hallett Prize) then trained in Plastic Surgery in Cambridge, and the South West of England gaining FRCS(Plast) in 1997 and was awarded the Ian McGregor Medal.  Always keen to combine basic science with clinical practice she was awarded a fellowship by the Wellcome Trust and carried out research into embryonic wound healing at UCL. Having always been fascinated by facial anatomy and congenital anomalies of the face, she took up a Cleft Fellowship at Great Ormond Street and St Andrew’s Centre, Broomfield, combining clinical work with research that was awarded the Arnold Huddart medal twice.

Her clinical and research work focus on various aspects of cleft lip and palate, non-cleft VPI (speech problems in patients without clefts) and surgical outcome studies. She represents the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Ireland on the Healing Foundation Research Council

Miss Isabel Jones MBBS MD FRCS(Plast)
Isabel Jones qualified in medicine in 1993 in Newcsatle upon Tyne. She moved to London for her surgical training and completed fellowships at the Royal Marsden Hospital (oncological microsurgery) and the London Clinic (aesthetic surgery). She worked for 6 months as a senior registrar in Southern Australia before returning to complete her training in the UK.  Isabel has been appointed as a consultant plastic surgeon with a special interest in burns at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital since 2008.
In addition to burns she has a special interest in body contouring surgery, repigmentation and healing in complex wounds.

She has been awarded an MD for her thesis on studies using allogeneic and autologous keratinocytes for wound healing.

Isabel is a member of the British Burns Association (BBA), the International Society for Burns Injuries (ISBI) and the British Association Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (BAPRAS).

Mr Shivram Singh MBBS FRCSI FRCS(Plast) EDHS
Mr Shivram Singh is a consultant cosmetic, plastic, reconstructive and hand surgeon who specialises in surgery for reconstruction of skin & breast cancers and total body contouring surgeries. He is a European certified hand surgeon.

Mr Singh, has been a consultant plastic surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, since 2007. He trained overseas and in various hospitals in the UK including London, Dundee, Aberdeen, Salisbury, Chelmsford and Belfast. 
He completed a fellowship specialising in breast reconstruction, hand surgery and burns at The Adenbrookes’ Hospital, Chelmsford. He is part of the multi-disciplinary teams in Skin Cancer and Breast Reconstruction at Birmingham University Hospital NHS Trust and The Hereford County Hospital.

He is actively involved in teaching and training and represents the GMC as a Quality Assessor for the junior doctors in training, around the West Midlands. He is a senior examiner for the medical school at Birmingham University and is Associate Senior lecturer to the Warwick University for the MSc programme in plastic surgery.

Miss Reena Agarwal MBBS MRCS MSc Cert.Mgmt FRCS(Plast)
Reena Agarwal is a locum consultant at the University Hospitals of Leicester. Having completed her basic surgical training, she was appointed to the Trent Deanery Higher Surgical Training scheme in Plastic Surgery and attained FRCS(Plast) in 2010. She completed her training with specialist fellowships in sarcoma at BG UK Bergmannsheil, Ruhr University, Bochum, Germany and a microsurgical fellowship at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford. She also attained a certificate in Management from Open University Business School in 2005.

Mr Robert Warner MBChB MRCSEd MD FRCS(Plast)
Robert Warner trained in the West Midlands region and subsequently worked as a locum consultant in Stoke-on-Trent before getting a substantive post at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS FT (Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham). His specialised areas of interest are oncoplastic and breast reconstruction, lower limb trauma and microsurgery.
