Innovation SIG/Touch Surgery Hackathon

1st April 2016

We're looking for some of the brightest minds ranging from trainees to consultants to identify specific healthcare problems that could potentially be solved during a ‘Plastic Surgery Hackathon’.

Not familiar with the concept? The idea is to pool the intelligence of individuals from differing backgrounds and expertise within teams that aim to solve highlighted problems within 48 hours. Along with 25 chosen BAPRAS representatives, there will be 40 leading venture capitalists, engineers and designers from some of the leading national and international companies based in the UK.

So, over the weekend of the 4/5th June, we are looking for individuals to ‘’hack’ on behalf of BAPRAS in London’s Kings Cross. The rough agenda will be as follows:

Saturday
09:00 Check in and breakfast
10:00 Chosen problems from submissions are handed out
12:00 Lunch
14:00 Day of hacking is tied up

Sunday
10:00 Breakfast
13:00 Project demos and pitches before judges
14:00 Prizes awarded to the best hacks

The event is free to attend and will hopefully stimulate innovation through the development of improvements in areas of process, production or Information Technology.

You can get a further idea of what’s involved via the MIT Hacking website. More information on registration is available here. The absolute closing date for applications will be 12 noon on 28 May 2016 but early application is suggested, as representatives will be chosen as they are received. A reserve list will then be created
