November 2015
Today marks the start of the BAPRAS 2015 Winter Scientific Meeting, which this year is being held in Birmingham.
The event is a platform for leading UK and international plastic surgeons to meet and share the latest successful pioneering innovations that are having a direct transformative effect on people's lives.
We are looking forward to a number of exciting sessions including the first meeting of our Innovation Group- the only dedicated innovation group among surgical societies, which will highlight development in plastic surgery. We will also be looking at improvements in efficiency of free flap breast reconstruction, the importance of the role of plastic surgeons in trauma teams, and a session hosted by the Reconstructive Surgery Trials Network highlighting clinical trials taking place for hand and plastic surgery in the UK.
We will also be welcoming guest speakers Professor Tony Young, National Clinical Director for Innovation at NHS England and Brendan Eley, Chief Executive of the Healing Foundation, the national medical research charity championing the cause of people living with disfigurement.
Our President, Nigel Mercer commented that "BAPRAS is proud to host pioneering Plastic Surgeons from across the world who are sharing their experties to advance our all-encompassing specialty for the benefit of patients everywhere"
