Paolo Matteucci is a Consultant at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He specialises in microvascular surgery, Head and Neck reconstruction, complex skin oncology, and facial palsy. He is committed to education, training and research and is an honorary senior clinical lecturer at Hull York Medical School and lead trainer for the Head and Neck Training Interface Group (TIG) Fellow in Hull.

He has been closely involved with the TIG fellowships both as holder of a fellowship and subsequently as a committee member representing BAPRAS. He also sits on the Specialist Advisory Committee for Plastic Surgery. He is chair of the BAPRAS Head and Neck Special Interest and Advisory Group. He is an examiner for the FRCS (Plast) exam and working on e-LPRAS.

His main areas of interest in research are skin oncology and wound healing. He collaborates with his colleagues at Hull University developing novel wound healing models and translational studies. He supervises a number of academic trainees. He has authored or coauthored more than 30 peer reviewed scientific papers and 3 book chapters. He is the Plastic Surgery Representative on the Yorkshire and Humber NIHR Clinical Research Network. He has recently been appointed to BAPRAS’s Research Committee.
