Surgical Sculpture Workshops: Facial anatomy sculpture course for surgeons
22 - 24 September 2021
Edgbaston Park Hotel, 53 Edgbaston Park Rd, Birmingham B15 2RS
A unique course taught by an experienced faculty of plastic surgeons that teaches surgical anatomy in a completely different way. On this course you will sculpt the anatomy structures of the face, layer by layer; including the facial musculature, facial and sensory nerves, vasculature, SMAS, superficial fat compartments and more. You will use wax and sculpture tools, under close instruction. No prior sculpting experience is necessary. What is different and unique in this course is that delegates work from superficial to deep, building up a facial sculpture by sequentially sculpting and assembling key anatomic structures, to cement a better understanding of anatomy. It is a highly constructive process, and tests anatomic knowledge whilst improving it. The courses improve anatomy knowledge of delegates across the board https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33435801/
You can even choose to pay to keep your completed sculpture at the end of the course.
- All sculpting equipment provided
- 1 faculty: 3-4 delegates ratio
- Highly enthusiastic feedback from previous delegates
- Usually covered by trainees‘ study budget funding (please check with your TPD)
A great course for surgical registrars and fellows, but also SHOs and consultants, all of whom have enjoyed learning and revising surgical anatomy in a creative, constructive learning environment using sculpture. No prior sculpting experience is necessary.
