14TH MICROSURGERY COURSE 2021

Date: 15 - 16 November 2021
Location: JINNAH BURNS AND RECONSTRUCTIVE PLASTIC SURGERY CENTRE, LAHORE, Pakistan
Theme: Microsurgery in the upper limb
Fee: 20,000 Pak rupees  (£90) with the hands-on and 10,000 Pak Rupees (£45) for without hands-on
Target audience: Trainees in plastic surgery and consultants in plastic surgery

Event information:

This will be the 14th year that we are running this course. It is intended for trainees and consultants who wish to understand and acquire the skills necessary for successful microsurgery. We have previously been badged by BAPRAS and been awarded CPD points (20). There are a series of lectures as well as a live clinic to illustrate the thinking behind clinic decisions. This is then supported by a ‘hands-on’ day where the delegates are shown how to setup an operating microscope. Then the delegates use a table top microscope and under supervision and with the aid of videos are taken through how to handle the instruments and perform anastomoses. The delegates are then given chicken thighs to dissect the femoral vessels to then undertake an end-to-end as well as and end-to-side micro vascular anastomoses. The delegates then participate in a two-way link to theatres to learn from live free flap surgeries. The delegates are asked for honest feedback.
This course is now established as a must do course for those trainees wishing to undertake microsurgery. Delegates gain confidence in decision-making and in dexterity and flap planning. Many BAPRAS members have been faculty and will attest to its educational value.
