The next in our popular series of undergraduate study days is taking place in Birmingham at IET Birmingham: Austin Court, 80 Cambridge St, Birmingham B1 2NP on Saturday 7th March 2020

 

As this event is run at a minimal cost to delegates, we rely on industry sponsorship in order to run them.

Background


 The BAPRAS Undergraduate Course is a national event, open to all UK medical students.

Designed and developed by the BAPRAS Education Committee in 2008, this biannual one day course has run sixteen times, educating over 100 students. Each course consistently attracts upwards of 100 students, from a range of backgrounds and medical school years.

Course content includes plastic surgical lectures, clinical skills training and presentations about charitable and overseas missions.

The course has been shown to significantly improve students’ clinical knowledge, surgical skills, awareness of the work of a plastic surgeon and career interest in surgery, and has been presented nationally and published.

Course Content


 In addition to lecture presentations on a range of topics, including careers advice, various plastic surgery subspecialties, overseas work and medicolegal aspects, there has also been additional content including:

Surgical Skills
Practical session, taught by specialist registrars in plastic surgery

Research Posters
Students are invited to submit abstracts and present their research posters

Prizes
Awarded for best research poster; best surgical skills; most improved surgical skills


Exhibition Package


 At a cost of £240, inc VAT, your company will receive a 3x1m exhibition space in the refreshment room, contact details and company profile included on the event website and in any formally produced handbook/conference guide and refreshments and lunch for two representatives.

Surgical Skills Session


 We run a registrar-led, hands-on surgical skills session to give an insight into some basic plastic surgery techniques. If you are able to supply surgical equipment for our basic skills sessions, we’d love to hear from you.
