Ian Smith is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon based in Leeds and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds. He trained originally in Maxillofacial Surgery before completing his Plastic Surgery training in Yorkshire. Prior to taking up his Consultant post he undertook a year's Fellowship at the Australian Craniofacial Unit in Adelaide followed by a further year's Fellowship in Head and Neck surgery and reconstruction at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, Queensland, Australia.

Ian's specialist interest at the Leeds General Infirmary also includes Sarcoma and Soft Tissue Tumour surgery. He is a core member of the Leeds Sarcoma Unit and collaborates in a number of national and international clinical trials.
