Chest Wall Abnormalities
The chest wall may develop abnormalities with growth or from disease.

Congenital chest wall abnormalities:

Pectus Excavatum.  This is when the breastbone takes on a concave hollow appearance resulting in a contour abnormality.  Plastic surgeons may be able to disguise this with a bespoke mould made from an artificial substance such as silicone to hide the defect from under the skin.  Thoracic surgeons may also be involved in actually cutting the breastbone and the attachments of the ribs to recontruct the area.

Pectus Carinata:  Often referrred to as Pigeon Chest where the breast bone bows forwards.  This is usually dealt with by thoracic surgeons.
