In addition to supporting on general plastic surgery procedures, he also works on paediatric burns and lymphodema.
Barry's early focus in plastic surgery was primarily on burns but he became more interested in skin cancer when research showed that the disease was becoming more and more prevalent in society. Barry has developed an expertise in the management of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer over the last 25 years.
He is the National Clinical Advisor for Skin Cancer for the NHS and sits on committees to progress the treatment of skin cancer, such as the Melanoma Study Group, National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) and Cancer Intelligence Network.
