Tate Britain Exhibition
The Antony Wallace Archive of BAPRAS loaned 12 photographs taken by Percy Hennell of Plastic Surgery during WW2 to Tate Britain in the summer of 2007 for its exhibition 'Photographing Britain 1840 to the Present'. There is particular interest in the photographic world because of the technique of colour photography used by Hennell which reduces the amount of fading. The pictures we have are as good as they were in the 1940s. The story behind these photos was told by Antony Wallace in an article in BJPS (1985) 38 451-465.
The Archive Collection is beginning to be available on the Internet. Thanks to a grant from BAPRAS Council the collection of instruments is being photographed and catalogued by a Curatorial Assistant Zoe Brealey, from the Hunterian Museum and will shortly be available on this website. In the meantime you can view it at http://tinyurl.com/31hdfb.
